A note from Ashley Daniels

When friends or family are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach, they will often reach out to me for recommendations of where to go, what to see, and musts for dining, depending on where they are staying and what time of year they are visiting. After living here for more than 20 years, I know the ins and outs – and here are some ideas for you in a dozen different themed vacations.

What Brings You to The Beach?

No matter if you are visiting Myrtle Beach as a couple, a family, a guys’ golf retreat, or a girls’ getaway, we have you covered and welcome one and all for any occasion any time of year. Here are some examples of celebration scenarios and our suggestions for your itinerary while you’re at the beach!

Honeymoon

So, you just tied the knot and now you want to wind down with a honeymoon getaway in Myrtle Beach? There are plenty of options that bride and groom will say “I do” to while you’re here. Consider booking a stay at the oceanfront North Beach Resort & Villas, where they boast a Caribbean-themed pool oasis, including a swim-up bar, plus Cinzia Spa on-property for a couple’s massage and the exclusive steakhouse, 21 Main; have dinner at the renowned waterfront Greg Norman’s Australian Grille with its extensive wine list and intimate ambiance; and then shop for something special for your someone special at Barefoot Landing, where Greg Norman’s is also located.

First Trip as a Couple

It’s the first time you’re getting away after becoming exclusive, so you want to impress your new love with all things fun and romantic. Tiptoe through the tulips of the lovely Brookgreen Gardens, test your skills as a couple at The Escape Game, or defy gravity with a tandem parasailing ride at Downwind Sails Watersports or New Wave Watersports. Then make your way around the Myrtle Beach Beer Trail with stops at Grand Strand Brewing Co., Crooked Hammock Brewery, and Tidal Creek Brewhouse, for starters.

Baby's First Beach Trip

Your newborn or toddler has never stepped barefoot onto the sands of the beach, and you want to create special memories you can look back on while you are here. Start with playtime on the beach, of course, where your wee one can dip their toes in the surf, then try some interactive, immersive entertainment venues, like EdVenture Children’s Museum in The Market Common and Ripley’s Aquarium in Broadway at the Beach. Book a stay at one of the many resorts that offer splash pads and shallow pools for the kiddos, such as Dunes Village Resort.

Kids’ Birthday Trip

Treat your child (and a few of their close friends) to the ultimate birthday weekend trip to Myrtle Beach, where there are plenty of activities to keep them happy and busy – and double as birthday venues to host your celebration. Try Myrtle Waves Water Park and rent one of their shaded cabanas for the group that offers party packages, Shark Wake Park to learn a new sport at the beach, or Sky Zone Trampoline Park. And for a twist to a dinner party option, take them to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament or Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show.

Bachelor Party Trip

The guys are getting together and headed to the beach for a bachelor bash to remember. For starters, work with a to book tee times on a few of the championship golf courses in Myrtle Beach. Then, for more golf – mini golf morphed with a bar/restaurant – check out PopStroke at Broadway at the Beach, get behind the wheel of the racing simulators at Redline Simcade, where they offer private party packages, hop aboard a fishing charter through Crazy Sister Marina & Fishing, or have some rounds of beer at Twin Peaks Restaurant or a round of Bowery beer at a classic, the Bowery.

Girls Getaway / Reunion Trip

Girls just wanna have fun, and fun you will have on a girls’ trip to Myrtle Beach. Tour the beach by way of Myrtle Beach Segway in The Market Common, Tiki Tours of Myrtle Beach (a party on a boat), or the Barefoot Queen Riverboat for your queens that cruises the Intracoastal Waterway. Retail therapy is a must and there are countless shopping stops, including Coastal Grand Mall and Tanger Outlets. And dress up for the night while letting your hair down at dining destinations, like Big Chill Island House, Drunken Jack’s, or Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.

Retirement is a milestone, and you want to celebrate this culmination of your career with your closest friends and family in Myrtle Beach. Here are a few ideas to make that happen: Gather the group for a wine tasting session at Duplin Winery, aboard a dolphin or sunset cruise through Crazy Sister or Voyager, a show at Alabama Theatre or The Carolina Opry, or a special dinner at Hook & Barrel. Or why not do all of these!

“Adults Only” Trip

It’s time for the adults to play and get away for a long weekend of grownup shenanigans at the beach.
