Updated: April 16, 2025 | 10:00 AM EDT
Our thoughts are with those impacted by the recent wildfire inland near the Carolina Forest area, and we are grateful for the firefighters and emergency personnel continuing to work to contain the fire.
WHAT WE KNOW:
- 2,059 acres involved | 90% containment (up from 80%).
- No impact to visitor areas—Myrtle Beach hotels, attractions, and flights continue operating as normal.
- The statewide burn ban has been lifted. Horry County lifted the current burn ban for unincorporated areas of the country effective 12 p.m. April 2, 2025. Careful, lawful open burning is permitted. For more information on open burning in Horry County, go to Horry County Fire Rescue's website.
- Fuelbreak work has begun to create defensible space for added wildfire protection in the affected areas.
- No road closures, no structures damaged, no injuries reported.
- Live Beach Webcams continue to show clear, sunny conditions along the coast.
- Visitors should be aware of lingering smoke in inland areas but will not experience impacts in the main Myrtle Beach area.
Fire crews continue containment efforts inland, and some inland areas may experience temporary smoke-related visibility impacts. However, the beachfront remains clear and sunny, and visitors can check real-time conditions on our Live Beach Webcams.
